Cardmaking is Therapy

Said goodbye yesterday to our sweet puppy dog, Keesha.  She had a long & happy life, but it's never long enough.  I know some of you have furbaby family members & understand the sadness & empty feeling.  I was off today, thankfully, & spent some time concentrating on making a card.

The beautiful sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch! gave me the perfect opportunity to use my new Penny Black stamp, with flourish, 40-241, which coordinates with Spellbinders Labels 16.  I inked the stamp with a Faber-Castell big brush & immediately poured on embossing powder.  The pretty hat & sentiment are from Penny Black's lace delight, 30-115.  I paper pieced the hat & colored it with the big brush & some COPIC markers.  The roses are brushed with Shimmer Spritz & Stickles was added to the lace.  Foam tape is used to attach the top of the hat & give it shape while the brim is glued flat with the lace edge slightly bent up.  I like the aqua, lavender & gray color combo.  Hope you do, too.  Thanks so much for visiting my blog.  I'm still catching up & will visit you soon--not used to Feedly yet.

  6. HEllo Greta
I am so sorry you have lost your pet and I know you are going to miss her dreadfully. I can tell by your card that you are sad, the colour palette is sombre, the drama and starkness of the dark Gray symbolises the emptiness that you feel, in contrast, the Aqua captures the eye and breathes life into the card, representing happy times. It is characteristic of how our creative mind can relay what we feel into what we create, and heal the soul, as you so correctly state; good therapy.
A wonderful expressive card, and does not require any embellishment.
    Smiles :)

  7. Oh Greta I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. We have dogs and 2 have passed away and now we only have one little furbaby still with us. My thoughts are with you, I know all to well how closely we can be bonded to our pets. Keep creating if you can it helped me through my grieving process.

Your card reflects your sadness, yet it's a beautiful and elegant tribute to your beloved Keesha.

  9. Oh Greta - my eyes are filled with tears, thinking of you and your husband mourning the loss of your baby! No words can take away the hurt, but know this: you gave her much love, a beautiful life, wonderful companionship. Trust that she's waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge. I agree with Jackie: your card reflects your sadness in an elegant way. Hugs to you, sweet friend!!
